The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is set to launch its pilot implementation of Digital Financial Literacy, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing financial inclusivity and sustainability among program beneficiaries. The pilot implementation will commence on Saturday, 24 February 2024, at the DSWD Auditorium in Quezon City, followed by events in Cagayan de Oro City, Eastern Samar, Sorsogon, Iloilo City, and Agusan Del Sur throughout the week.

This initiative, aligned with Republic Act 11310 or the “Act Institutionalizing the 4Ps”, emphasizes the importance of providing beneficiaries with capability-building activities to improve their well-being sustainably. Secretary Rex Gatchalian’s directive in December 2023 paved the way for the implementation of Digital Financial Literacy within the Department, marking a significant step towards mainstreaming the poor in the country’s financial system. This initiative builds upon the regular implementation of financial literacy sessions through the Family Development Sessions that started in 2020.

The pilot implementation will be conducted in collaboration with the Ayala Foundation, BPI Foundation, GCash, Land Bank of the Philippines, and Maya.. The pilot event will include orientation on financial literacy, discussions on digital financial services, an open forum, and registration with the preferred digital financial service provider selected by the Pantawid household beneficiaries.

Through collaborative efforts and a steadfast commitment to innovation, the Department aims to maximize the use of digital financial services in the implementation of different social protection programs such as the 4Ps.
