Quezon City – In line with the observance of the National Rice Awareness Month this November, the National Program Management Office (NPMO) of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, affirms its commitment to help the farmers amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Signifying its support, the NPMO said that launched an information campaign to encourage the more than four million households of the 4Ps to purchase agricultural products directly from the farmers. Apart from this, the NPMO also shared that a special electronic Family Development Session (eFDS) will be conducted highlighting the nutritional value of Rice, its importance and how the 4Ps beneficiaries, can also support other sectors that experience socio-economic challenges.

Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Offices, through its 4Ps Regional Program Management Offices are also being encouraged to conduct Rice Caravan in time for the pay-out of grants scheduled anytime this month.

4Ps is a program of the national government implemented thru the DSWD, that invests in human capital by providing cash grants to program beneficiaries upon compliance to certain conditionalities in aspects of health, nutrition, and education. This includes sending and keeping their school-aged children in school; pre and post-natal care for mothers; regular and preventive check-ups for children aged 5 and below; deworming for children aged 14 and below; and attendance in the monthly FDS. The FDS provides psychosocial and psycho-educational components.

As of October 31, 2021, the Program has more than four million household beneficiaries nationwide, of which 1.74 million are either farmer, fisher folk or forester.###
