More than two hundred families from different regions will celebrate the gift of family and the positive changes in their lives as the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) celebrates the Pantawid Pamilya National Family Day on October 14, 2018 at the SM North EDSA Skydome.

With the theme, “Pamilyang Pilipino: Nagsusumikap. Nagtutulungan. Nagtatagumpay,” this year’s event emphasizes how the hard work of 4Ps family-beneficiaries—complemented with assistance from DSWD and its partners from the government and private sectors—yielded positive results.

“Despite the challenges that poor Filipino families are confronted with, we continue to celebrate and recognize their determination and perseverance to have better living conditions,” shared DSWD Acting Secretary Virginia N. Orogo.

Among the highlights of this year’s event is the awarding of the National Search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya. This year’s national finalists include the Ramos family from Urbiztondo, Pangasinan; Marañas family from Sta. Maria, Laguna; Dionisio family from Labo, Camarines, Norte; Bonite family from Roxas City, Capiz; and the Campugan family from Cordova, Cebu. The families bested 11 other family-beneficiaries from other regions.

“Every year, the Department recognizes 4Ps family-beneficiaries who are able to comply with program conditions, sustain family togetherness, and become active citizens of their community despite the many challenges brought about by poverty. These families value hard work to achieve success and do not solely depend on government aid,” Secretary Orogo added.

Free food, special gift packs, games and entertainment, and other services  await the families during the event, which will also be participated by Pantawid Pamilya’s partner agencies and private organizations, including Jollibee Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Santeh Feeds Corporation, David’s Salon, Adarna House, Inc., CDO Foodsphere, Yakult Philippines Inc., Unilever Phils. Inc., and MetroBank Foundation.
