The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), partnered with Globe and G-Xchange to intensify its Digital Financial Literacy, empowering 4Ps beneficiaries to access financial services, and making digitalization and financial inclusion accessible to them.

Through this initiative, 4Ps beneficiaries are provided with information during the conduct of Family Development Sessions (FDS) in maximizing the use of digital technology and allowing them to explore the use of e-wallets to help them better manage their finances including their cash grants.

Recognizing the challenges in receiving cash grants in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs), the partnership with Globe and G-Xchange also provides the 4Ps beneficiaries with an opportunity to shift from regular cash card payment through e-wallets such as G-Cash and other digital financial platforms.

In the kick-off ceremony of the 4Ps mobile phone distribution held on 18 March at the Navotas Sports Complex, more than 50 4Ps beneficiaries from the Cities of Navotas and Malabon received smartphones donated by Globe Telecom.

The recipients of the mobile phones included those 4Ps beneficiaries who have expressed their willingness to shift from cash-based payouts through their cash cards to digital financial platforms such as GCash and other e-wallet services.

The 4Ps beneficiaries who are at level 1 or survival level of well-being, and belong to the poorest of the poor, and those living in GIDAs with limited access to ATMs are given priority under the 4Ps mobile phone distribution initiative.

The DSWD emphasized that through the mobile phone drive, 4Ps beneficiaries can receive their cash grants more quickly, safely, and efficiently, helping them with financial transactions such as using digital banking and other services that can support their livelihood.

The mobile phone distribution is one of the means to achieve the Digital Financial Inclusion Initiative of the program, which was launched in December 2023, to equip 4Ps households with essential personal finance management skills, ensuring a seamless transition to digital financial transactions and fostering long-term financial independence. #
