The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has registered 176,278 new family beneficiaries under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) using data from the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS), expanding the government’s flagship poverty reduction program to more eligible poor families nationwide.

The newly registered beneficiaries include some 91,300 families identified as poor through the CBMS who completed registration between March and April.

Meanwhile, from May to June, an additional 85,500 families have already completed registration.

“This milestone demonstrates that the CBMS is enabling us to identify poor families using updated community-level data and immediately connect qualified families to government assistance, such as the 4Ps,” 4Ps National Program Manager and Director Atty Mary Rose Oquindo-Pasibi said.

Director Pasibi also stated that the program continues to process additional families for enrollment as part of the nationwide CBMS-based registration to reach its annual target.

The DSWD has endorsed over 818,800 families to its Field Offices and the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) for validation and possible registration under the second round of CBMS-based intake.

The result of which is expected to be released by August.

“The registration of new beneficiaries forms part of the government’s transition to the CBMS as the official Standardized Targeting System under Republic Act No. 11315, replacing the previous targeting mechanism for identifying poor families eligible for the 4Ps,” the 4Ps National Program Manager emphasized.

Under the new system, families identified as poor through the CBMS undergo validation to determine whether they meet the Program’s eligibility requirements, including the presence of pregnant women and/or children aged 0 to 18 years, as well as other vulnerability criteria.

“As long-time beneficiaries graduate from the Program, these newly qualified families will ensure that available slots immediately benefit other poor families who need government support the most,” Director Pasibi added.
The 4Ps aims to maintain its target of 3.5 million active family beneficiaries nationwide by continuously replacing graduating beneficiaries with newly qualified families identified through the CBMS.

The 4Ps is the national government’s flagship human capital investment program that provides conditional cash grants to poor households to improve the health, nutrition, and education of children and help break the intergenerational cycle of poverty. – NIÑO MEL HAYNO TRINIDAD
