MANILA, MARCH 1, 2013 – Pantawid Pamilya, the country’s conditional cash transfer (CCT) program, is on track to achieve its objectives of promoting investments in the health and education of children while providing immediate financial support to poor families.
These are the main findings of the recently completed assessment of the CCT – the first in a series of evaluations being done on the program – presented today by the World Bank in a public forum held in Quezon City led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) with support from AusAID and the ADB
Titled “Philippines Conditional Cash Transfer Program, Impact Evaluation 2012” the report confirms that children of Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries are enrolling and attending schools, with improved health due to regular visits to health stations, and pregnant mothers getting proper care.

In line with the goal of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program to promote children’s rights, a National Children’s Congress (NCC) will be conducted on October 29-30, 2012 at the Bayview Hotel in Manila. To be attended by 500 children beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilya, this is the first congress since the implementation of the program in 2008.

The NCC will be a venue to imbibe on children a sense of nationalism, promote awareness, and make their voices heard on issues directly affecting them. The event will serve as the culminating activity for the National Children’s Month celebration with the theme “Bright Child ay Siguraduhin, Responsableng Pamamahayag ay Palaganapin!”

The Department of Social Welfare and Development and its development partners, the World Bank (WB), Asian Development Bank (ADB), Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and Social Weather Stations (SWS) gathered last August 23 at the Asian Institute of Management to publicly present the results of the Impact Evaluation.
